NEW CITATION STANDARDS FOR THE INFOSPHERE

As part of the collaborative culture, all digital citizens currently face the overwhelming problem of citing information from the billions of web pages or other digital sources when creating their own 'original' works.

This site proposes that the New Citation Standards be based upon Metadata Tagging, Keywords, or other similar Web 2.0 technologies.

Imagine a world in which all content carries a tag that any content creation software can recognize and neatly incorporate in one click for citation purposes.

Questions we will answer as a group that come to mind are:

1. Who will set the metadata tag standard and how will its adoption be handled globally?
2. How will current software, education, and industry incorporate the tagging system?
3. What other technologies can be mashed up to make the citation process more transparent and easy to encourage digital citizens to use it?
4. Will ease and transparency remove the need for plagiarism and cheating?
5. Who will governments be encouraged to support the effort of the New Citation Standards?
